Well it is official, Julie and I ran our first 10k, and what a experience it was. 48,000 people, costumed runners, people standing in their lawns with water-hoses, belly dancers along the route, it was definitely odd, definitely fun! Our first Bolder Boulder was super fun, an experience that we will never forget. I think I have found a new hobby, its fun, cheap, and good for the ticker. Julie and I may not have run it fast, but we loved the whole experience and we are looking forward to doing it again in the future!
Upcoming plans for our new hobby include running the Austin Race for the Cure, by hopefully starting a branch of the Yellow Team in Austin. We are also looking forward to the Capital 10k in Austin! Whoop!

Posted by: Lee at June 1, 2004 10:37 PMOK. So I just had to throw in a bit about our run! Lee will be so proud that I AM POSTING on the BLOGGER!!! Our run was so incredible. Everyone had really talked up the race like it was going to be super hard. We kept hearing about all the hills and the higher altitude, so I was really SCARED! I made Lee run it pretty slow and as everyone ran by panting and wheezing, I was glad. That wouldn't have been fun. So we just smiled and laughed the whole 6.2 miles! It was easy! Then the finish was just amazing. We both seemed to get this adrenaline rush and were just flying through the crowds of people to get into the CU stadium. Once we entered and saw all the people and heard all the cheering, I thought I would cry! I was so proud of us. Afterwards, we really had fun getting to go around and carb-load with all the free give-aways. We probably consumed more calories than we actually burned! There was ice cream, juice, smoothies, popsicles, bananas, beer, and my favorite...soy tortilla chips. They were so yummy! So if you are thinking of joining us for the Race for the Cure...let me twist your arm with the thought of those free soy tortilla chips! It will be a guaranteed fun...and healthy time for all! :)
