So who decided that tightening every bolt and every filter on a Tundra as hard as they could is a good idea?
Today I go to change the oil on our truck. I was so excited about the easily assessable oil filter and drain plug, that is of course until I try to loosen and remove these items. OH DANG IS SOMEONE A JERK AT TOYOTA! I tried for a good 30 minutes from 1000 different angles to get off the filter. Then I went to Wallyworld to get a new filter wrench (broke one), still no luck. By this time the filter was mangled. I finally stabbed it with a long screwdriver, which worked like a champ, but if that didn't work I would really be up a creek. Then came the drain plug. I had to hammer my socket wrench (thanks craftsman) for 10 minutes to get the sucker loose. It was killin me!
All eventually went fine. Got the new filter on, and oil in. I am going to switch to synthetic after this oil change, I figure I save the money changing myself so I can afford to spend a bit extra on the oil.
Anyways, I am sure that this was excessively boring for ya'll, but it was 2 hours of heartache for me.... so be compassionate :)
i've been told by the lady in my house that works at a dealership that those jerks do that because they want you yo spend your hard earned cash for a trained technician to do it for you. that and because you have an imported car, thats why you should by american made.
