So it is as final as it could be. We are moving back to Tejas (Does anyone know any good realators in the Austin area?) Out of here toward the middle of June, there is nothing like the feeling of driving out of perfect 70-degree weather to the suffocation of 90-degree heat with 100 percent humidity (Why are we moving again...). We are sad to be leaving the sunny skies and beautiful scenery of Colorado, but feel our calling is in Texas. I am hoping that a few years down the road we will have the opportunity to come back here, we just now are getting the hang of it here.
There are some definite upsides to moving to Texas, like seeing our friends and (for me) getting out of the copy shop. Julie and I will also be able to work at camp in the Summers (I wont link to their site because it is horrible!). There is nothing in the world like that ministry environment.
I will be going back to school to enter public ministry, and through school I will drive school buses part time (that's the plan anyways). Watch out AISD, I'm coming to town (Be afraid, be very afraid).
Julie has yet to get a job but to tell you the honest truth we aren't nervous about it. I know that Julie is such a phenomenal teacher there is no way she wouldn't get a job, and she is well thought of thought the Austin area. All right, I have to brag about a compliment she got from a principal that Zion (her current school) was calling...(Julie doesn't know my password to the blog so we are alright as far as censorship while I am at work is concerned)
The principal candidate met all the teachers and observed them briefly while he was visiting Brighton. While he was talking with the head of the school board, Joan, he told her, "There is one person Zion needs to do everything to keep, make sure you don't lose her (speaking of Julie)." This was after he had met all the teachers. I found it particularly ironic seeing as the only reason we heard it was because Julie was leaving.
So we are sad and excited, sad to leave a place that we have grown so fond of, but excited about the possibilities. Julie and I know that I am not built to make copies for the rest of my life, so leaving kinkies is not that tough, but leaving the security of a paycheck, and status quo is. We know that there are limitless possibilities in the upcoming years and we are just excited to see what will happen.

Posted by: Bonnie at April 27, 2004 11:05 AMI'm also considering a move to Austin soon, but it's not definite. I don't know if you're familiar with the city, but it has a unique, laid back culture and is very pretty in its own way. If you like lakes and hills, you might look towards Lakeway just west of town. I was there in the Summer of 2002 and the heat wasn't bad, seems like there was always a light breeze blowing. The winters will be MUCH nicer than Colorado, unless you like snow. Best wishes on the move and let me know any good realtors also.

hmm...i believe you just left a comment supporting the spurs on my blog. kudos: you have impeccable NBA taste.
thought i'd let you know that AISD, and texas in general, are in desperate need of good teachers. there's a teachers' fair coming up very soon, i think, though, so your wife should call AISD A.S.A.P. to check up on that.
if that doesn't go through, my friend is also about to become a teacher in austin, and she might have more info. let me know if i can help. if i were cut out for it, i'd be a teacher. but i'm not, so i'm glad to help those who are.
adios!

Thanks for the AISD tip!
Posted by: Lee at May 3, 2004 12:00 AMCongratulations on your seminary plans. God bless you folks. As a young single at the seminary I was always amazed by the families that gave up so much to follow their call and purpose, and how God managed to work it out. It's best you *both* know your purpose isn't forever in copies--it means you're gonna make it, and it's wonderful you're excited about your possibilities more than frightened about what you're leaving behind. Enjoy Austin--what a great town!
